Mera peak (6,654 m) is the highest peaks among the peaks opened for climbing between 6,000 to 8,000 meters in Nepal. The official record shows that it is the highest permitted peaks for climbing in the country. Located to the south of the Mt. Everest, Mera peak climbing trip is one of the frequently organized peak climbing trips among Footprint Adventure. This peak for the first time said to have explored and ascended successfully by the British team in the 1950s. Following their successful ascend, Mera peak been one of the most demanded peaks in Nepal for climbing in the Khumbu region.

We have carefully and specially devised itinerary in an order you to allow optimum options of building fitness and acclimatization so that you will easily be able to cope up with the high altitude sickness. The peak is technically a bit difficult and challenging for climbing, which means you need have adequate preparation and have climbing equipment such as ice axe, crampons, and other related peak climbing equipment apart from the adequate of clothing like down jackets/mitts, boots, sleeping bag etc.

The trail to Meera peak is undoubtedly filled with full of ice, slippery rock, sloppy hills, the fog keep enfolding while climbing up, but when you reach the top of the Mera peak beating the fog and all the arduous trails, you will undoubtedly be wrapped up with amazing sceneries of dozens of majestic mountains including the world’s highest mountains Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Mt. Makalu (8,463 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m) and numerous other spectacular Himalayas such as Mt. Nuptse (7,855 m), Mt. The ultimate Mera peak climbing trekking begins with a short and exciting scenery flight to the mountain airstrip from Kathmandu to Lukla and then the trek continues alongside lovely Pangkongma, subsequently continue to Nashing Dingma, Chalem Kharka, Chunbu Kharka, where you will have a rest for one day for acclimatization. You will enjoy with greenery sceneries all across the areas and then you will continue trekking though lovely Hinku valley, Tangnag, continue trekking to Dig Kharka, Khare and then finally you will reach the base camp of Mera peak at the height of 5,300 meter height. You will have acclimatization. Once you are ready, you will move to higher base camp at 5,800 meter height and finally ascend to the Mera peak from the top of the peak, you will have awesome views of nearby Himalayas and dazzling landscapes in the bellow and exploring all around, you will retrace back down to Lukla and then fly back to Kathmandu.

You will be met by Footprint Adventure Treks and Expedition’s representative at Airport and transferred to the hotel. The remainder of the afternoon at leisure for you to explore, and shopping for trekking. A pre-trek briefing will be given this evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Next morning, after breakfast you will leave for a whole day sightseeing and visiting around Kathmandu valley. You can visit sacred Pashupatinath Temple and swyambhunath, especially old and fundamentally enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Just perfer for trekking gear after 3 pm and stay overnight at KathmanduDay 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m, 6-7 hour)

Breakfast at the hotel and we’ll catch an early morning flight to Lukla. Then we will begin our trekking to Paiya crossing the jungle trail, a bridge over Handi Khola and reach Surke Village. The path goes opposite of the Everest Trail. Ascending and descending, we will reach Paiya Village. Dinner and overnight at Paiya.

From Paiya, we will cross the wooden bridge and walk to the slippery land of Kari la pass. Beautiful forest of rhododendron and bamboo are the main route through which we will walk. Glorious view of mountains and the view of Dudh Koshi River will surely mesmerize us. We will be at Pangkoma for the night.

We will continue our trek out of Panggom after breakfast at the lodge and cross Panggom La pass. We pass through rhododendron forest, Peseng Kharka Khola, Peng Kharka Daanda and cross Ningsow Khola. Then we reach Ningsow Village. Dinner and overnight at Ningsow.

From Ningsow, we will march in the steep and sloppy trail which is narrow and mountain trail. In our way we will have our breakfast. We will follow the trial of beautiful forest of rhododendron and bamboo. After walking of 4 to 5 hours we will reach Chhatra Khola where we will rest and staythe night.

Breakfast at the Lodge and we will trek towards the north on the main trail to Mera Peak. Descending steeply to Thuli Kharka we will continue our trek up to Hinku valley of Kothe. We will move alongside Hinku Khola and straight ahead towards Tashing Ongma to cross the bridge over the Sanu Khola before reaching Kothe. There are several tea houses in this village and you can also explore the lifestyle of the people residing in this area. Overnight at Kothe.

From Kothe, we will start walking in early morning. Beautiful ridge of Hinku khola in the shadow of Mera peak will be our main path. Lunch will be on the way. Viewing some beautiful monasteries and the glorious view of mountains we will reach Tangnang which will be memorable for life time.

Today we are heading up from Tagnag towards the Mera Base camp at Khare. We follow the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka, which offers spectacular views of Charpate Himal. The trail climbs through moraines and to the snout of the Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers and then climbs more steeply to your camping spot at Khare after 3-4 hrs walk.

This morning after a breakfast, we prepare our gear for ice climbing (This may depends on season and availability of Ice if ice not available then we just hike around or rest) – just above the Khare and need to walk couple of hrs from where there are good views of the Mera La and the route up the mountain. This will also be a time for practicing few hrs Ice climbing and our leader will teach you and instruct about the climbing. After few hrs practicing at glacier, stroll back to camp and final preparation of our equipment and packing of our mountain bags and overnight

A very short trek allowing for as much acclimatization time and a day walk as you make your way to Mera Base Camp. We first climb to the crest of the moraine above Khare and then up a steep slope of scree or snow to reach a boulder strewn bowl below the lower tongue of the Mera Glacier. Reaching the pass Mera La (5,415m/17,766ft) allows us to see spectacular views; we then descend 100m (328ft) towards the Hongu side and set up base camp in the moraine below the ice and we overnight in Mera Base Camp.

This is the most important day of our trek and our main destination. Today we will be climbing up to Mera Summit early in the morning to reach the summit by sunrise. The view of the great Himalayas from the top of the summit is just marvelous and amazing. Take pictures of the spectacular panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Nuptse, Chamlang and other. After spending some time in the summit, we retrace our way back to the High Camp and then to Khare to spend our night.

Today is our second day of rest. If the weather on the previous day did not favor our climb to the summit, we will continue our climb this day. You can also use this day as an acclimatization day to adjust your body to the higher altitudes.

After fulfilling our dream, we will return back to lowland of Kothe. We will leave the beautiful Mera peak at its natural position and continue our way. We will carry all memory with us and some peictures of Mera peak in our camera. The same trial of Hinku valley will be our returning way. We will spend interesting night at Kothe.

From Kothe, we will climb for about 2 hours to reach Thuli Kharka. We will climb from forest of rhododendron and we view the magnificent view of mountain ranges of Mera peak. This all is in our side screen during the trek. It will take us about 5 to 6 hours to reach at Thuli Kharka and enjoy night.

 This is going to be our last night in the Himalayan region. We will return back to Lukla following the same route taken before and cross Zatrwa La Pass to reach Lukla village. After reaching Lukla, you can rest or explore the village and the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the village. Have your final dinner with the crew and overnight at the Lodge.

Enjoying the last glimpse of the mountains we have recently visited, the 35 minutes scenic flight takes us back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu, we are met and transferred back to our hotel. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant with cultural dance performances.

Additional Info

Flight-

Flight is very important things for Mera Peak Climbing. While you are going to Lukla or coming to Kathmandu from Lukla  Some time will not flight on time because of weather so after finish the trekking,  you need to take the private helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla or Lukla to Kathmandu catch the international flight.  so you have to take minimum 02 days extra for  Mera Peak Climbing.


High Altitude Sickness-

Mera Peak Climbing would be lifetime memory in your life. If you are not fit we will not recommend for this expedition. While you are going toward the Mera Peak Climbing, you have to eat a lot of food and drink. If you have other problem you have to admit the hospital soon in this case you call the helicopter for rescue and our staff will helps your treatment. If you have medical insurance the rescue helicopter payment will be cover by the insurance company so medical insurance is necessary to go this expedition.

Expedition Grade -

Mera Peak Climbing is pretty long trek that goes right into high mountain country so, it is physically quite strenuous which involves approx 5-8 hours trekking along the way. There is no previous experience is required, used to some regular exercise and enjoy walking in the high altitude conditions.

Weather-

The best seasons for Mera Peak Climbing are from the September until November and from the beginning of March until May. The morning time clear, with clouds building up during the afternoon, & disappearing at night. Trekking during the monsoon and winter is also possible.

Food-

We will provide freshly cooked food from the local guest house or restaurant. You will have breakfast and dinner at the lodge and lunch available along the trail. You can find a wide variety of Nepali and Western food as well as drinks.

Transportation-

Mera Peak Climbing starts from your hotel so Car or necessary vehicle will come to your place and drop to the airport then Kathmandu to Lukla to Kathmandu amazing flight.

Telephone and Internet-

Mera Peak Climbing there is few places available telephone and the internet. You can get internet password from the hotel counter.  Telephone and internet cost would be extra on your trip.


Electricity-

Most of the lodges/ guest house take an additional charge for battery charging. There is no electricity in the base camp. There is electricity or solar power where you can re- charges your camera batteries, laptop, mobile etc. that cost you need to pay extra.

Drinking Water-

The bottles water is available along the trail until the last village. You can take buy boil water from the lodge or restaurant or you can use Iodine or water purifying medicines.

Luggage-

In Kathmandu, you will get 4 to 5-star standard Hotel or resort accommodation. During the trekking part,  rooms will be basic, normally just a bed with a pillow and blankets. You will have a private room but The bathroom will be outside. There are some guest houses with attach bathroom as well as but they will cost extra.

Group Leader and Crew-

We promise we will provide Trained Experienced with honest with local Trekking Guide and Sherpa staff when there are 8 or more members in the Group and porters to carry your luggage and there will be 1 porter for 2 members.

Trekking(Climbing) Equipment-

It's not necessary to spend a lot of money for extra equipment and clothing before your trip. The Majority of these gears can be bought at reasonable rates in Kathmandu.

Trekking (Climbing) Days-

The time schedule is very important for enjoy the trip with among the Guide porters and trekkers Each morning after packing our bags and hot breakfast, we set off on the day’s walk. After walking for 3-4 hours we stop for lunch at around midday. The afternoon’s walk.  The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, doing a bit of washing or simply relaxing with a good book. On some days we will arrive at our destination by lunchtime and the entire afternoon will be free.
