To visit Tanzania as a tourist, most travelers need to obtain a tourist visa. The Taniza Government allows both visa on arrival and online visa options for eligible travelers.

  1. On Arrival Visa Platform: Visa on arrival (VOA) is the most convenient alternative for many travelers. Citizens of most African countries, the United States, Canada, the majority of European countries, and many other nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival at any Tanzanian airport or land border crossing. The visa normally costs between $50 and $100 and can be purchased in cash (USD, EUR, or TZS) or with a credit card. The requirements for eVisa are similar to those for a VOA.
  2. Online Visa Platform/eVisa: Tanzania also offers an electronic visa (eVisa) system for travelers who prefer to obtain their visa online before traveling. The eVisa allows travelers to apply and pay for their visa online, eliminating the need to visit a Tanzanian Embassy or consulate in person. The eVisa application process is typically straightforward and can be completed from anywhere with an internet connection. Once approved, travelers receive their eVisa via email, which they can print out and present upon arrival in Tanzania.
  • They should only apply through the official Tanzania Immigration website (www.immigration.go.tz) or directly through the link visa.immigration.go.tz. Applicants are assumed to have read and agreed to the Terms and Conditions on the Visa Portal.
  • Holders of American passports traveling for vacation or tourism must apply for a Multiple Entry Visa. Non-American applicants should carefully study and follow the conditions for a Multiple Visa application.
