Lokesh Bahadur Karki

With nearly two decades of experience in Nepal's trekking industry, Lok Bahadur Karki is a highly skilled and passionate guide known for his warm personality, leadership, and deep connection to the Himalayas. Originally from Dhading, Lokesh (fondly called Lok dai by many trekkers) has been working as a trekking guide for over 18 years, and for the last three years, he’s been an integral part of the Footprint Adventure team.

Lok began his journey in the mountains right after school, gradually building his career with hard work, honesty, and a genuine love for the outdoors. He is fluent in Nepali, English and Hindi, allowing him to connect with travelers easily. His favorite region is the Annapurna, where he finds the local hospitality and familiarity especially heartwarming.

Throughout his career, Lok has led treks across Nepal’s most iconic regions including Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang. His guiding approach blends professionalism with fun—whether it's sharing a hearty laugh, cracking light jokes to lift tired spirits, or ensuring meals and safety protocols are handled perfectly. Lok believes that being a trekking guide is not just a job, but a leadership role that requires empathy, observation, and the ability to read the needs of clients intuitively.

He has received extensive training in Wilderness First Aid, Sustainability, and Leadership, which helps him provide an enriching, safe, and memorable experience to every trekker.

Outside of guiding, Lok is a multi-talented soul—he loves singing Nepali folk songs, many of which he has shared on YouTube. His passion for culture, sustainable travel, and the joy of sharing Nepal’s beauty with others makes him a guide people remember long after their trek ends.

With Lokesh as your guide, you're not just exploring the mountains—you're gaining a trusted companion who is genuinely invested in making your trek a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
