Sharan Karki is an accomplished mountain guide, travel writer, and tourism entrepreneur whose life’s work is a tribute to the beauty of his homeland. Born and raised in the village of Phulkharka, Dhading, Sharan’s childhood was influenced by nature, which helped shape his understanding of work, patience, and belonging, and gave him a lifelong blueprint for understanding the delicate balance between land and culture.
Sharan’s path has been shaped by time spent on the trail and years spent learning how the system works. He began his journey in the trekking industry as a hiking porter, which taught him the weight of responsibility and the value of flexibility. However, his ambition to professionalize the sector led him to Kathmandu to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University and later an Executive MBA. The education he gained in those classrooms gave him the tools to return to the mountains with a clearer purpose. Today, he lives at the intersection of field experience and thoughtful leadership to modernize tourism in Nepal.
Beyond business, Sharan is guided by a deep-seated commitment to Nepal’s ethical fabrics of love, trust, and compassion, and that belief shapes how he works and how he mentors. As a dedicated entrepreneur, he is passionate about mentoring the next generation and providing a platform for young blood to grow and thrive within their own borders.
Sharan remains a student of the world, constantly seeking new perspectives and inviting others to connect with the transformative power of nature.
