Q1. What types of Nepali dishes will I learn to cook?

Most full-day cooking classes in Kathmandu focus on staple Nepali dishes like momos, dal bhat, and sel roti. You might also learn to prepare popular curries like saag (spinach) or aloo (potato), and regional specialties like Newari platters.

Skill levels vary depending on the cooking school. Some cater to beginners, providing step-by-step guidance. Others might target intermediate or advanced cooks, assuming some prior kitchen experience.

Many cooking schools cater to vegetarian and vegan preferences, offering vegetable-based momos, curries, and alternative protein options. Some might accommodate gluten-free or other dietary restrictions with advanced notice.

Transportation is not always included. Check the specific details of each class. Footprint Adventure offers pick-up and drop-off from your hotel within Kathmandu for an additional fee.

Class sizes vary depending on the school. Some offer intimate experiences with 4-6 participants, while others can accommodate larger groups (8-12).

A typical full-day class starts with a visit to a local market to learn about Nepali ingredients. Then, you'll head to the cooking school for a hands-on cooking session, followed by a chance to enjoy the meal you prepared with your classmates.

Some full-day classes include a visit to a local market to learn about Nepali ingredients and spices. This is a valuable experience to understand the origins of the food you'll be cooking.
